Please, can anyone help?

I’m looking to update my really, really old canon-something-or-rather version to something new this coming year. I’d really love to take nice new pictures, but my camera can’t cope with how old it is. I’d really love any suggestions. They can be point and shoots or even larger. Thanks for any help ^_^

laurencephilomene: I wish I had a friend who lived really close to me - you know, someone who would just drop by all the time and eat here a couple of nights a week for no reason. I think it would be lovely to have a friend like that. We could cook diner together. :)
